Clarice Atleno-Omondi and Natasha at the University

I have been doing my Masters Degree in English Philology at the University of Helsinki for a year now. My husband along with my 3 year old daughter Natasha just arrived here from Kenya. Natasha will go to “Päiväkoti” and he will join the same master programme with me.

I am excited about Helsinki. The staff at the university is welcoming and the Finns in general are warm. I work at RTK and like it very much, my colleagues speak very many languages.

What I knew about Helsinki beforehand, was its best ranked education system. To me, it is the best because of the support system for international students, good libraries, engaging teaching methods, affordable student living and easy transport. Well, and I like the potatoes at the Unicafé Restaurant a lot.
